"Thistles"

From the In My Head series, This painting is inspired by the flower thistles. Generally associated with negative symbolism due to its prickly outer exterior; many associate it with pain and aggression. Just like the flower there is beauty to it. Which also brings positive symbolism, Which was an inspiration when painting this portrait. She has gone through pain, and has been hurt before but the leaves continue to grow and thrive beyond the dying flowers around it. Reminding us  that even with pain and challenges in our lives, we too can overcome them and grow.
